The map below shows a portion of the Nordrhein-Westfalen region of Germany which lies along the Rhine River. Söven, Germany - the birthplace of Peter Voiss - is located at the red star at the maps center. It had a 1990 population of 653 people and lies approximately 10 miles east of Bönn and 20 miles southeast of Cologne (Köln). This Söven should not be confused with another Soven, Germany which lies near Bremen, some 450 miles NE of Cologne. The two can be distinguished not only by their location but by the fact that this Söven has an umlaut (2 dots abve the "o") while the other does not.
