In 1886, 7 years after arriving in the U.S., Frederick and Johanna Styrlund moved with their family of six children from Iron Mountain, MI to Marshall County, Minnesota. Upon his arrival there Frederick homesteaded on a piece of property in New Solumn Township which lies just outside Rosewood, MN which is shown in the map below. The final four Styrlund children were born here.
